The library · no paywall, no jargon
Explainers
Every research paper is a story buried under formatting requirements. These study guides dig the stories back out — what we did, what we found, and why it matters — for students, parents, practitioners, journalists, and the young people this research is actually about.
The plan: one guide for every paper I've published (and every paper to come). The library grows as the science does.
Available now
When violence and substance use collide
414 young sexual minority men of color told us about their relationships. Different types of partner violence traveled with different substances — and "checking your phone" abuse turned out to be its own beast.
The threat is worse than the post
In a national sample of 970 queer teens, being threatened with having explicit images leaked predicted suicide attempts more strongly than images actually being leaked. Sextortion is a suicide-prevention issue.
What trans youth of color actually need
The TRUTH Study surveyed 108 trans and gender-diverse young people of color in LA. When 61% face food insecurity, "make better health choices" is not a serious intervention plan.

SHIHbot: the 2017 chatbot
Building one of the first sexual-health chatbots on social media — years before "AI" was a headline.
When state laws hit teen mental health
Legislative climates, minority stress, and suicide attempts among sexual minority adolescents.
Measuring minority stress, fast
The SMASI-SF: how you validate a short-form instrument and why measurement is everything.
SQuARE: the relationship study
Eight papers' worth of findings about how queer teens learn what love is supposed to look like.
